A History Lesson in Honor of Halloween
I ran accross this article on Yahoo about early "ghostly pictures" and decided to share. With Halloween just days away, people are buzzing about Ghosts. Well, 19th century photographer William Hope , double exposed pictures of people who have passed on with current pictures in order to produce pictures of "ghosts." It's cute (by today's standards) how something so simple in photography could be so impactful. I mean we've done it just by accident a few times. Before I read the article, I thought to myself, "oh they just double exposed it." But I guess back in the 19th century with Photography, itself, being so new, people believed whatever the picture told them, unaware of all the trickery. A pretty good con game if you ask me. Now we have Photoshop and I believe very little of what I see in pictures these days. Take a look at some of the better fake pictures. Ahh, we have to appreciate where we came from...
