Happy Meal Project
This has been going around in the news lately so I thought I would share with those who haven't heard. Photographer Sally Davies, purchased a McDonald's Happy Meal and intentionally left it out trying to show her friend that it would not rot after a few days. Turns out, she was right. The hamburger and fries looked almost exactly the same after 6 months. She took photos each week and posted them to Flickr to show its progress. And according to the story, this was not the first time this has been done. Schoolteacher Karen Hanrahan has been keeping a Happy Meal since 1996 in order to show how fast food is resistant to decomposition. And as expected, McDonalds issued a statement explaining that McDonald's food is made fresh and "...include common government-approved ingredients." Really makes you want to think twice before pulling up to the drive through window.
